Far East Family Band was a Japanese Progressive Rock group, originally called Far Out, that was active from 1973 to 1978. Founded by Fumio Miyashita, the group is most remembered as the starting place for famed Japanese keyboardist and composer Kitarō as well as working with German Electronic composer Klaus Schulze on two albums. Much of the bands lyrical content focuses on New Age ideas and lost era theories; such as the hypothesis of a Hollow Earth and the lost continent of Mu. The group released five albums before Miyashita The history of the group and their discography are discussed extensively in the last chapter of Julian Cope's Japrocksampler book.
