Historic Chalet Sonnenfreude new article content ... Chalet Sonnefreude located near the picturesque village of Schönried (1350 meter altitude), Gstaad region, in beautiful Berner Oberland (Switzerland). The chalet was build by the Braat family, from the Netherlands, in 1937 as one of the first chalets in Schönried. Is is a traditional build Chalet with lots of woodwork details. Although modernized to offer every comfort the old historic character has been carefully kept.
Initially the Chalet was used as a vacation refuge for the family. However after the second world war the family Braat lived in the Chalet for several years to run a pension annex bed & breakfast to build a new future after all their goods have been destroyed in The Netherlands. They became a well known family fully integrating within the community.
The detached chalet with private driveway, offers complete privacy and is situated on the southern slope with a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains.
