"Pefferlaw Ice Pad" The Pefferlaw Ice Pad is located in the Village of Pefferlaw, in the Town of Georgina. It is an outdoor ice rink facility that does not require a fee to use. A group of community volunteers formed a committee in 2006. Together they worked with the Town of Georgina and had an outdoor ice rink, with an ice-making plant constructed and in operation since 2009. The facility cost approximately 1.3 million dollars to construct. The rink has tubes filled with glycol under the concrete pad to make ice. There are arena style boards and glass as well as an Olympia machine that is stationed at the site for daily maintenance by the Town of Georgina Arena Staff. Volunteers from the community continue to work at the facility to ensure that the area is kept clean, remove snow and to put the hockey nets out for players. There is a an open pavillion beside the rink with tables and rubber matting for skate lacing. There is no indoor rooms nor is there indoor washrooms on site. The schedule for the 2011-2012 season is: 8am - 10am Parent-Tot 10am - 12pm Public Skating 12pm - 2pm Senior Skating 2pm - 4pm Public Skating 4pm - 7pm Hockey 7pm - 8pm Public Skating 8pm - 10pm Hockey
The facility is unspervised and users are asked to follow the posted schedule and rules. The rink is open year round to the community, but the ice is based on weather conditions and usualy runs from the end of December until the beginning of March.
