Faces on Film is the project of Boston-based singer-songwriter Mike Fiore. Though originally formed with other members in 2004, the band was scaled back to just Mike in 2008[1] The live band consists of "a rotating cast of musicians from its Boston-area home, including members from bands like Hallelujah the Hills and Mr. Sister" in addition to featuring Dave Hinckley on guitar.[2]
In 2008, Faces on Film self-released their debut record The Troubles, which landed on the Boston Globe's Top 10 Albums of 2008.[3] Although Fiore has said some of the songs were written as long as four years before the release, the record was recorded in a former piano factory in less that one week. The sound of The Troubles can be described as "combining the best elements from bands like Blitzen Trapper, Annuals, and Modest Mouse."[4] Faces on Film/Mike Fiore was also named Best Singer-Songwriter of 2009 by the Boston Phoenix.[5]
