A bit about me.
I'm a Yorkshire Lass although I've lived in a few different places.
I was laid up for three months due to a work accident, and to solve my boredom problem I started reading through Wikipedia. I've read (and forgotten) most of the policies, and oh boy is there are so many. I've read through RfA's (fascinating and scary), block logs, noticeboards (fringe has kept me entertained, keep up the good works), edit wars (helped me get to sleep), dramas (bored me after a while), sockpuppet investigations (at my age I can barely remember my own name let alone multiple logins) and I've seen some really helpful people in action (a few really unhelpful).
So, I decided to join the community and dip my toe in the water. I've a feeling I will be sticking to reversing vandalism and be a Gnome. I don't know how some of you have the energy to do this day in and day out.
I've had a 7-8 month period where I've been inactive on Wikipedia. I was struggling with pain levels after a 3 major surgeries and I wanted to concentrate on increasing my mobility. My strength is good right now. I won't ever run a marathon again (I've only run 4), I'm never going to have a cycling holiday again BUT I'm walking quite well now, the pain is manageable and best of all, there shouldn't be a need for any more surgeries, yay!
I've enjoyed my Wikipedia experience so far. There are a LOT of really helpful and encouraging people that have put up with my questions and put me on the right path. The encouragment has been brilliant, thank you. I've still got so much to learn so any advice is always welcome.
Oph, over 20,000 edits. I'm not an edit counter by nature. Plus my edits are, so far, mostly reverting vandalism and the subsequent messages. Anti-vandalism is valuable to Wikipedia, absolutely no doubt about that but maybe I need to concentrate a bit more on content building. I have dyslexia which wasn't diagnosed until my mid 20's. I consider it mild dyslexia due to advancements in coping strategies and of course, modern tech. Still, it can be daunting to compose 'Wikipedia correct' content.
Also, why do a lot of vandals include any variation of the following...cheese, boi, ttt and Ryan? Apologies to all the CheesieboitttRyans out there. And let's not forget all the variations of TRUTH.
