Brent H. Weber new article content ... Brent Harold Weber, known as Brent Weber, is an award-winning broadcast journalist, author and actor. His book, "The Sports Guy: Scorecard Scribblings From An Ordinary Journalist" (Booklocker, 2002) is a first-person account of his experiences working as a sportscaster with the Cable News Network and other entities in his career. It received positive notice in the Los Angeles Times sports section and has been used in classrooms at Cypress Junior College (California).
Weber earned regional Associated Press awards for his sports videography and reporting while working in Chattanooga, Tennessee at WDEF-TV, and later received a Los Angeles Emmy nomination for his role with the LA Times Sports Prep Show on KCAL-9 Los Angeles. While working as a sports correspondent with CNN based in Los Angeles, Brent Weber received a Cable Ace Award for his efforts on the Sports Tonight production team.
He created, produced and hosted the television interview program Action Figures, which aired for parts of two years (one season) on KVMD-TV in Los Angeles. The pilot season was produced with the intention of producing it for multiple season, but as of this writing has not been picked up for further production. Guests in the first season included Olympic Gold Medal Volleyball Player Misty May, Endless Summer surfer Pat O'Connell and inspiring Ironman athlete Sarah Reinertsen. His co-host Rana Townend is the daughter of the first World Surfing Champion Peter P.T. Townend. "Action Figures" episodes were shot in Huntington Beach, Dana Point and Laguna Beach, Valiofrnia.
He worked in 2008-2009 as pre and post game host and Sideline Reporter for the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder and also hosted the team's magazine show, "Air Thunder". Prior to that he had been a contract reporter for Fox Sports West covering various teams (2006-2007) and served as CNN Sports Anchor and Reporter for several years in the early 1990's. Weber was an intern at CNN when they went on the air in 1980. He was attending Georgia State University at the time in Atlanta and he eventually obtained a degree in Journalism in 1983. His TV and radio career has included stints in Dalton, Georgia, Macon, Georgia, Chattanooga, Tennessee, both Atlanta and Los Angeles with CNN, San Diego, and Oklahoma City. He worked in Los Angeles as main sports anchor at Orange County Newschannel for 5 years and during that time was the play-by-play voice of Cal State Fullerton Titans baseball for two seasons on television. He previously did play-by-play for the Class AA Chattanooga Lookouts and other various sports organizations.
As an actor, he worked commercially in Los Angeles for several years and most notably was often confused in internet searches with another performer of the same name, Brent Paul Weber, who has appeared on soap operas and prime time television programs. This Brent Weber is the first Brent Weber referenced in IMDB, with Brent Paul Weber the second, primarily because of his notation as producer of a small video production "The SUnset Sessions" which received only a minor commercial release. He has worked primarily as a sports and news broadcaster and a theatre actor, with appearances on stage in Los Angeles at Long Beach Playhouse, Newport Beach Arts Center, Huntington Beach Playhouse and Rose Center in Westminster.
After moving to Oklahoma City in 2007 to take the role of main anchor on the Fox 25 Morning News (KOKH-TV) he became involved in several non-profit organizations as either a spokesman or fund-raiser, including the Salvation Army, World Neighbors, Shakespeare in the Park, Prevent Blindness Oklahoma, Upward Transitions and The Leukemia Lymphoma Society, the latter of which he was nominated as local "Man of the Year" candidate in 2009. .
He has a daughter born in 1987, Jennifer Nicole Weber, who is an actress. Weber resides in Nichols Hills, Oklahoma and is an adjunct instructor at the University of Oklahoma. He also began working as a licensed realtor in the state of Oklahoma in 2010.
