The word "Neko" is the Romanjization of the Japanese word "Cat". The reason that NekoDaemon puts "Nyaa!" is because that is the Japanese equivalent for "Meow". The use of the word Daemon comes from the idea of UNIX daemons: Programs that sit and do some automation.
