1. Winners of PGA Championship or U.S. Open prior to 1970 or in the last 10 calendar years (Beginning in 1998, this is a five-year exemption.)

Gary Woodland was promoted to this category after his win and earned an exemption through 2024. Koepka, Johnson, McIlroy, and Thomas extended their exemptions to 2024; Johnson would fall to cat 6 in 2022 and cat 10 in 2023; McIlroy would fall to cat 2 in 2020.

Kaymer finished in the 126–150 range and fell to conditional status for 2020.

2. Winners of the THE PLAYERS Championship in the last 10 calendar years. (Beginning In 1998, this is a five-year exemption.)

Fowler extended his exemption to 2022.

3. Winners of the Masters Tournament in the last 10 calendar years. (Beginning in 1998, this is a five-year exemption.)

Tiger Woods was promoted to this category after his win earned an exemption through 2024. Reed extended his exemption to 2024, in which season he would fall to cat 10.

4. Winners of the British Open in the last 10 calendar years (1990-present). (Beginning In 1998, this is a five-year exemption.)

Shane Lowry was promoted to this category after his win earned an exemption through 2024. Molinari extended his exemption to 2024, in which season he would fall to cat 10.

5. THE TOUR Championship winners in the last three years, beginning with the 1998 winner

Schauffele extended his exemption to 2023; he would fall to cat 6 in 2021 and cat 10 in 2023.

6. Winners of World Golf Championship events, beginning in 1999 (a three-year exemption)

Kevin Kisner was promoted to this category after his win and earned an exemption through 2022. Mickelson extended his to 2022, in which season he would fall to cat 10.

7. Winners of the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Memorial Tournament in the last three seasons and the current season, beginning with the 2015 winners

Patrick Cantlay was promoted to this category after his win and earned an exemption through 2022. Leishman extended his exemption to 2022. DeChambeau extended his to 2024.

McGirt received a medical extension.

8. The winner of the FedEx Cup in each of the last five calendar years

9. The leader in PGA TOUR official earnings in each of the last five calendar years (up to 2016)

10. Winners of PGA TOUR cosponsored or approved events (except team events) within the last two calendar years, or during the current year; winners receive an additional year of exemption for each additional win, up to five years.

Twenty players moved into this category during the season. Kuchar earned an exemption through 2022 with two wins.

Berger, Bryan, Chappell, Murray, and Points received major medical extensions, and Swafford a minor; Murray also made it through the Finals. Gribble and Pampling finished outside the top 150 and fell to past champion status in 2020.

19. Top 125 on the previous year’s FedExCup points list

Werenski, Norén, Uihlein, Burgoon, Blaum, Power, Hossler, and English finished in the 126–150 range. Burgoon received a minor medical extension; he also made it through the Finals, as did Werenski and Hossler. Norén, Uihlein, Blaum, Power, and English settled for conditional status in 2020.

Mullinax, Hoge, Duncan, Harkins, Saunders, Lahiri, Cink, Schniederjans, Kim, Schwartzel, Kirk, O'Hair, Čejka, Hahn, Lovemark, and Huh finished outside the top 150. Schwartzel, Kirk, O'Hair, Hahn, Lovemark, and Huh received major medical extensions, and Mullinax, Cink, and Kim minors. Hoge, Duncan, and Lahiri made it through the Finals. Čejka fell to past champion status in 2020. Harkins, Saunders, and Schniederjans became non-members and have not reached the PGA Tour since.

21. Major Medical Extension

Herman's extension expired in June and he fell to past champion status, but then won. Bae's extension expired in February and he fell to the reshuffle category; he finished outside the top 150 and fell to past champion status in 2020. Bozzelli's expired in January, but he had earned conditional status and fell to the conditional category; he finished in the 126–150 range and remained in that category for 2020. Senden's extension expired in February and Jacobson's in July, and both fell to past champion status; Senden used a 300 cuts made exemption for 2020. Curran and Marino became non-members when their extensions expired in November and January, respectively. Stadler, DeLaet, Donald, Hoffmann, Villegas, Noh, Choi, Hagy, Baird, Knost, and Frazar received carry-overs; Donald and Choi had career money exemptions as backup, while Hagy made it through the Finals.

Lucas Glover was promoted to this category in October after meeting his terms; he finished in the top 125.

Ben Martin, Smylie Kaufman, and Greg Chalmers were all upgraded from minors. Kaufman's expired in July and he fell to past champion status. Martin and Chalmers received carry-overs.

Those who finished in the 126–150 range were Stefani, Streb, Roach, Castro, Teater, and Lebioda. Streb and Lebioda made it through the Finals. Stefani, Roach, Castro, and Teater settled for conditional status.

Jäger, Langley, Díaz, Wright, Davis, Hickok, Knous, Svensson, Prugh, Gómez, Barber, Albertson, Luck, Etulain, Rodríguez, Silverman, Mahan, Chin, Kyle Jones, Reeves, Schnell, Lindheim, and Chris Thompson finished outside the top 150. Mahan, Knous, and Lindheim received minor medical extensions. Davis, Hickok, and Gómez made it through the Finals. The other 17 became non-members.

Glover was promoted to the major medical category in October after meeting his terms; he finished in the top 125.

Bae Sang-moon's fell to this category after his medical extension expired in February; he finished outside the top 150 and fell to past champion status in 2020.

Henry finished outside the top 150 and fell to past champion status in 2020.

27. Reshuffle medical

MacKenzie's extension expired in June and he fell to past champion status. Sucher's expired in July, but he had earned conditional status and fell to the conditional category; he finished in the 126–150 range and remained in that category for 2020. Blanks's expired in July and he became a non-member. Claxton used his last start at the regular-season finale; he finished outside the top 150 and became a non-member in 2020. Collins and Berganio received carry-overs; Williams did not.

Martin, Kaufman, and Chalmers were all upgraded to majors. Kaufman's expired in July and he fell to past champion status. Martin and Chalmers received carry-overs.

Haas's and Lashley's extensions expired in October and March, respectively, but both earned conditional status and fell to the conditional category; Lashley won afterwards, while Haas finished in the 126–150 range and remained in the conditional category for 2020. Randolph's extension expired in October and he became a non-member.

30. 126–150 from money list

Six players finished in the top 125, including three winners. Wagner finished in the 126–150 range and remained in this category in 2020. The remaining players all finished outside the top 150. Hearn made it through the Finals; Crane received a medical extension. Campbell, Garrigus, and Lingmerth fell to past champion status in 2020. Piller, van Aswegen, Lovelady, and Fathauer became non-members for 2020.

31. Non-exempt medical extension

Owen played no events and did not receive a carry-over.

Four players on medical extensions earned conditional status: Bill Haas in October, Dominic Bozzelli in January, Nate Lashley in March, and Zack Sucher in July. Lashley won afterwards; the rest finished in the 126–150 range and retained conditional status for 2020.

Fitzpatrick, Wallace, Redman, and Bjerregaard accepted membership for 2020. Fitzpatrick accepted STM in March, Bjerregaard in April, and Redman in July.

Hovland, Lewis, and Ghim were successful in the Finals; Hardy, Lipsky, Sharma, and Danielson were not.
