DJ Tony G is hip hop Producer/DJ Tony G (born Gonzales). collaborated on the 1990 single "La Raza" with rapper Kid Frost, the single broke Kid Frost to a wide audience, and became a much-loved anthem for Chicano hip-hop fans. Paced by his smooth, laid-back flow, his good-time debut album, Hispanic Causing Panic, was released on Virgin that year, and was one of the first full-lengths in Latin hip-hop history, along with Mellow Man Ace's Escape From Havana the preceding year.
Brown & Proud is the debut album by Latin rap group, A Lighter Shade of Brown. It was release in 1990 for Pump Records and was produced by Jammin' James Carter, Fabe Love, DJ Romeo, and Tony G. The album peaked at #184 on the Billboard 200 and #8 on the Top Heatseekers.
also known for known for the song "Mentirosa" by Mellow Man Ace (translated as "liar" from Spanish). The song took a riff from Carlos Santana's "Evil Ways" as the music, repeated and tweaked to fit the lyrics, which were sung in Spanglish (mixing English and Spanish). "Mentirosa" was the first Spanglish hip hop hit record.
