Race Engine Technology is a technical motorsports magazine written for professional race engine designers and builders. It is a degree-level educational journal covering all aspects of the powertrain in great depth.

The magazine is edited by Ian Bamsey and covers all forms of competition engine and transmission, including those used in Formula One, NASCAR, Le Mans, MotoGP, NHRA and World Rally Car. It includes in-depth profiles of engines used in those and many other professional motorsport categories, insights into components, interviews with key industry figures and investigation into all aspects of the engineering that goes into contemporary competition powertrains.

One of Race Engine Technology's Contributing Editors and also their Technical Consultant is Professor Gordon P. Blair CBE, PhD, DSc, FIMechE, FREng, FSAE, who is also the author of definitive, world-renowned textbooks on four and two stroke engine technology. Professor Blair [1] is a lecturer at the University of Belfast as well as a partner in a company producing software for designing cylinder head components.

Other Contributing Editors include engine designers Tom Sharp, John Stowe and David Wood, engine engineer Jack Kane, American racing writers Martin D Clark and Anne Proffit and motorcycle racing technical specialist Neil Spalding who also works as a commentator for Eurosport on MotoGP races.

The magazine also holds an annual ‘Race Engine of the Year’ Awards Ceremony, whereby practicing competition engine professionals from around the globe vote on the outstanding engines of the year. Winners of the overall Race Engine of the Year include the Audi Le Mans turbodiesel V12 in 2006, in 2007 the Toyota petrol-electric hybrid GT racer and the Mercedes-Benz Formula One V8 in 2008 and 2009.
