DJ Biggz Joseph Paul Hammond [1] aka Paul Hammond (born in Long Beach CA in May 18, 1974) better known by his stage name DJ Biggz, is an American Hip Hop DJ in the Pacific NW. His father, Tippie Hammond, is a professional musician who played with numerous national acts during DJ Biggz adolescent years. He and his family moved to Vancouver, WA at a young age (where he still resides). He began learning about many aspects of music, beginning with attempting to Break Dance during elementary school lunches and then attempting to "freestyle rap" and recite song lyrics during lunch recess, he then turned to teaching himself to DJ, starting with a single tape deck and moving onto turntables.
In mid 1988 DJ Biggz was given the opportunity to DJ a school dance at his Jr. High School, which was his first
professional opportunity to DJ at a live event. By the end of the same year he was Dj'ing school dances and house parties and events on a regular basis. This was all during his Freshman year in high school.
In high school Biggz began running his mobile DJ company – Sounds Of Magic Mobile DJ's. This, with the help of a few dedicated friends molded him into a self-sufficient business person. In 1997 he became manager of a local underage nightclub (Club X), which escalated him to another level in his career, the promoter.
It didn't take him long to find his way into the business of the recording industry, and he founded Three 6 Oh Productions in November of 1997 and after the involvement of a few friends they quickly propelled Three 6 Oh to a nationally-recognized powerhouse of promotion. In Feb. of 1998 DJ Biggz took to the road with promotional items for LaFace Records after meeting their street team at the official afterparty for the Puff Daddy Victory Tour that was held at the nightclub Biggz was managing. Three 6 Oh Productions has been utilized around the Northwest by such labels as Interscope Records, Arista Records, WB Records, LaFace Records, Virgin Records and many more. Three 6 Oh became a recognized leader in street team promotions throughout the country with their grass-roots marketing techniques and guerilla marketing tactics, and has been hired on more than one occasion to take their work ethic to the streets outside of the Northwest as well, covering many parts of the West Coast, Las Vegas, and Vancouver B.C. DJ Biggz also been involved with tours which included acts such as Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, And 1 Mixtape Tour, and many many other big names in the music and urban lifestyle industry.
In 1999 DJ Biggz along with the help of a few other top DJ's from his region formed a DJ union known as "FunkShop DJ's", and now FunkShop DJ's are recognized by record labels and artists worldwide for breaking records and introducing new music to the general public. FunkShop DJ's main goal is to entertain masses with the not-so-typical music they're hearing already.
DJ Biggz has one of the finest reputations as a workhorse for the music industry as well as an entertainer. He's DJ'd with some of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B music as they have toured throughout the Northwest, developed personal relationships with artists and managers, and maintains passion for the art of DJ'ing as well as independent artists, always supporting them where he can. He's a recognized tastemaker, record breaker, and leader in the urban music industry throughout the entire Northwest region, and has recently added another title to his long resume – Northwest Coordinator for Urban Gorillaz DJ Squad – a national DJ squad with over 50 DJ's nationwide and growing.
