CityLibraries Townsville Local History Image Collection holds a collection of approximately 30,000 historic images, which are progressively being digitized for online access. The photographs and scanned images are available to the public, and can be currently viewed on the CityLibraries Townsville online catalogue, or through Picture Australia and Trove. The photographs are indexed using the Australian Pictorial Thesaurus, but can also be seached on natural language. The photographs cover a variety of aspects of Townsville history including damage wrought by cyclones, buildings and streetscapes, commerce and industry, influential people and the general development of the city over time.
