India, officially the Republic of India is a country in South Asia. It is made up of 29 states and 7 union territories. All Indian states have their own government and Union territories come under the jurisdiction of the Central Government.[1] As most of the other countries India too has a national emblem-The lion capital.[2] Apart from India's national emblem, each of its States and Union Territories have their own state seals and symbols which include state animals, birds, trees, flowers etc. [3]These symbols can be categorized under two categories - Primary and Secondary. Primary symbols include symbols like State animal, State bird, State tree and State flower (which generally all states of India have though there are exceptions). Secondary symbols include symbols like State dance, State song, State fruit, State fish, State butterfly etc. These symbols are secondary all states or territories do not have them.
