Hi Jesslynn lee86, below are the steps:

Go to Wikipedia:Upload. If your picture is under free use, go to Commons:Upload instead. You don't have to create an account. Use your English Wikipedia username and password to login.
If you are in the Wikipedia Upload page, you will see a "What kind of image or multimedia (audio or video) file is it?" section. If you are in the Commons Upload page, you will see a "Where is the work from? (Click on the appropriate link)" section. Choose the appropriate category.
You'll be led to the next page to upload your file, fill out the description, choose the copyright info etc. You shouldn't be having any problems with it.
Once you've uploaded it successfully, put in on your page as [[File:YOURIMAGENAME.jpg]].
