Verkhnekamsky District (Russian: Верхнека́мский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[5] district (raion), one of the thirty-nine in Kirov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 10,297 square kilometers (3,976 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the town of Kirs.[1] Population: 32,669 (2010 Census);[3] 39,643 (2002 Census);[7] 54,171 (1989 Soviet census).[8] The population of Kirs accounts for 31.9% of the district's total population.[3]
