The WTA Argentine Open is a WTA-affiliated tennis tournament originally founded as a combined men's and women's tournament called the Argentina International Championships. It was initially played from 1928 to 1987 and restarted in 2021. It is held at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club in November and played on outdoor clay courts.
The event made a return to the WTA 125 tournaments calendar in 2021. It was the first professional women's tennis event in Argentina since 1987.[1]
This event is not to be confused with the earlier Argentine Championship (1918-1997), which was the open national championships of Argentina held at the Tennis Club Argentino (founded 1913) also in Buenos Aires.[2]
