The Wentworth Estate is a private estate of large houses set in about 2.7 sq mi (7 km2) of woodland, in the Borough of Runnymede, Surrey. It lies on a gently undulating area of coniferous heathland, around 0.75 mi (1.21 km) south west of the centre of Virginia Water. Construction of the estate, known locally as "The Island", began in the early 1920s. Wentworth Golf Course is part of the estate and some properties can only be accessed through the course.[1]
