Fishing in Malawi fishing is an important contributor to poverty alleviation and rural economic growth in lakeshore areas.^[1] Fishing contributes about four per cent to Malawi’s Gross Domestic Product, it has over 300,000 people are involved in this activity. Sadly, fish stock in the lake and the rivers of the country has been dwindling over the years due to over-fishing.^[2]
