Stuart Bird (b. 1977) is a South African artist who lives and works in Cape Town. His work concerns issues relating to aspects of South African society, ranging from the art scene to investigations of wayward masculinity and violence.[1] He works with a wide variety of media but considers his work neo-conceptual with an emphasis on craft and materiality.[1] Prior to studying art, he apprenticed as a church interior restorer in the United Kindom, and he has been involved in various community-based initiatives.[2] He is featured in the permanent collections of the University of Cape Town, IZIKO South African National Gallery and Sanlam Art Collection.
