Guild of Copy Editors July 2013 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Thanks to all who participated! Out of 39 people who signed up this drive, 30 copy-edited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. All of the barnstars have now been distributed. Progress report: We cleared two thirds of the oldest articles from May and June 2012, but for the first time since the Guild started doing the backlog drives, we saw the total number of articles in the queue increase. We need more participants to prevent that from happening again in the future. The backlogged articles now span fifteen months. Copy Edit of the Month: GabeMc won the May 2013 contest for his work on Sue Me, Sue You Blues, and Dementia13 won the June 2013 contest for progressive rock. The July 2013 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. The August 2013 contest is now open for submissions. Everyone is welcome to submit entries, ask questions, and vote. Blitz!: The August blitz will run from August 11–17, just hours from now. Our focus for this blitz will be on articles from the Guild's requests page, which currently stretches back to May. We'd like to get it cleared out through at least May, and hopefully June as well.
