Guild of Copy Editors May 2013 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Thanks to all who participated! Out of 36 people who signed up this drive, 24 copy-edited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. All the barnstars have now been distributed. Progress report: We cleared all April 2012 articles from the backlog, and knocked the total number of tagged articles down by almost 600, thanks primarily to an absolutely herculean effort by Lfstevens. We continue to maintain a backlog of around one year worth of tags. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2484 articles, down from 8323 when we started out three years ago. Happy anniversary! Copy Edit of the Month: AGK took a decisive win in the March 2013 contest for his work on Geopolitics, while the April 2013 contest saw a four way tie for the gold, with Czar (Illusive Man), Northamerica1000 (Pancake house), Wilhelmina Will (Ash Lieb), and Jonesey95 (Mauricio Amster Cats) sharing top honors. The May 2013 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. The June 2013 contest is now open for submissions. Everyone is welcome to submit entries, ask questions, and vote. Blitz!: The June blitz will run from June 16–22, just two weeks from now. Our focus for this blitz will be articles tagged as needing copy editing from WikiProject Military History. Working with such a large and active project will hopefully benefit members of both groups. – Your drive coordinators: Torchiest, BDD, and Miniapolis.
