The Route Markers Department for WikiProject Highways creates and maintains route marker (a.k.a shield) graphics for use on road-transportation-related articles. The department is responsible for ensuring that shields are created as prototypical as possible. All editors are welcome to contribute and make requests as long as they do their best to ensure that the shield stays true to the original and others in the series in regards to spacing, colouration and its other attributes. Wherever possible, shields should be added to articles using the {{jct}} template (or {{AUshield}} for Australia). Note that U.S. markers are covered by the USRD Shields Department, this page covers the rest of the world.

Guidelines
Existing route marker templates can be found at the /Templates subpage or at Commons. Consider using the templates to make the desired route markers yourself. Instructions for using the templates are given on that page.
Country-specific resources and information can be listed on the /Resources subpage.
Please ensure your request is truly necessary, in that the route markers will be used in at least one article.
Australian route markers must be uploaded locally. The current understanding is that they meet the very low threshold of originality in Australia and are eligible for copyright in Australia.
