The assessment team focuses on assessing the quality of Wikipedia's Java articles. While much of the work is done in conjunction with the WP:1.0 program, the article ratings are also used within the project itself to aid in recognizing excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work.
The ratings are done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WikiProject Java}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in a set of categories that serves as the basis for an automatically generated worklist.
Note: although some overlapping of projects is unavoidable for some topics, please be prudent with this category: Category:Articles with example Java code; although it IS included in the categorytree of Java, the content of some articles in it can be marginally Java-related and therefore NOT automatically part of this project.
There is a Quality assessment managed by this project, in addition to the Importance assessment. Quality Assessment, when done through this project, is managed with the Computing parent project classes.
