The Signpost affirms its values

Optional: write a lede — not necessarily a WP:LEAD. Interesting > encyclopedic.

The Signpost is the the newsletter of the Wikipedia community of editors. To that end, the editors confirm the values of the publication, including

  1. Wikipedia community independence - this is a publication by and for Wikipedia's community of volunteer editors
  2. Wikimedia Mission alignment - meta:Mission is a statement of the Wikimedia Foundation. The Signpost adopts these values also.
  3. Journalism ethics and standards
  4. Support for Wikimedia organizations - This includes Wikimedia movement affiliates, the Wikimedia Foundation, and the Legal Team of the Wikimedia Foundation

In the context of recent events, The Signpost affirms its independence. We are aware of no barriers or restrictions which anyone has ever wished upon our journalism. No one has ever suggested that The Signpost decline to publish a story of interest to the Wikimedia Community. Anyone can ask questions, including here publicly in the discussion section of this article which is a permanent and public record. In summary - Wikipedia volunteers are encouraged to contribute journalism to The Signpost with complete journalistic freedom, and everything that we can see is in complete support of free Wikipedia user journalism. No one has given editors of The Signpost any reason to worry about anything
