The 1940 Providence Friars football team was an American football team that represented Providence College as an independent during the 1940 college football season. In their third year under head coach Hugh Devore, the team compiled a 3–6 record.
Providence was ranked at No. 195 (out of 697 college football teams) in the final rankings under the Litkenhous Difference by Score system for 1940.[1]
