The 1987 Calder Cup playoffs of the American Hockey League began on April 8, 1987.[1] The eight teams that qualified, four from each division, played best-of-seven series for Division Semifinals and Division Finals. The division champions played a best-of-seven series for the Calder Cup. The Calder Cup Final ended on May 23, 1987, with the Rochester Americans defeating the Sherbrooke Canadiens four games to three to win the Calder Cup for the fifth time in team history.[2] Rochester's Dave Fenyves won the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as AHL playoff MVP.[3]

Sherbrooke set an AHL record for goals scored in one playoff with 85. The Cape Breton Oilers tied this record in 1993.[4]
