The 1999 Rally Argentina was a motor racing event for rally cars that was held over four days between 22 and 25 April 1999. It marked the 19th running of the Rally Argentina, and was the seventh round of the 1999 World Rally Championship season.[2] The 1999 event was based in the city of Cordoba in Argentina and was contested over twenty two special stages, covering a total competitive distance of 396.63 km (246.45 miles).
Philippe Bugalski was the defending rally winner, having won the previous two rallies in a row, but would not be competing in Argentina. With two wins on the season so far, Tommi Makinen lead the championship with twenty nine points; one more than closest rival Didier Auriol. Finishing a position ahead of Makinen, Auriol and the Finnish driver would be level on points at the end of the rally.
The Rally was won by Juha Kankkunen and co-driver Juho Repa, their first win of the season.[3] This would also spell the first win of the season for Subaru World Rally Team as their drivers finished the rally in a 1–2.
