The match was played at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, to determine the winner of the 2001 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. The final was contested by Tipperary and Galway, with Tipperary winning on a score line of 2-18 to 2-15. It was their first All-Ireland title since 1991.[1]
