The 2012 Welsh Open (officially the 2012 888真人 Welsh Open) was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place between 13 and 19 February 2012 at the Newport Centre in Newport, Wales.[1][2] This was the first time, that 888真人 sponsored the event.[3]

John Higgins was the defending champion,[1] but he lost 3–4 against Ding Junhui in the last 16.[4]

Ding Junhui won his fifth ranking title by defeating Mark Selby 9–6 in the final.[5][6]
