A constitutional referendum was held in Algeria on 1 November 2020.[1] The subject of the referendum was a revision of the Algerian constitution, and it follows a series of protests known as Hirak.[1]

An effort by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to meet demands raised by the demonstrations that led to the resignation of four-term former President Abdelaziz Bouteflika in April 2019, the revised constitution aimed to reform the powers of the Algerian government.[2]
