On June 15, 2023, in Monroe Township, Ohio, U.S.,[1] Clayton, Hunter, and Chase Doerman (ages seven, four and three respectively)[2] were shot and killed at their home. The 34-year-old wife[3] of the perpetrator was injured in the attack, and her daughter (the perpetrator's stepdaughter) was held at gunpoint but escaped.
Police arrived and arrested 32-year-old Chad Doerman,[2] the father of the three victims, and charged him with murder, felonious assault, and kidnapping. Doerman pleaded not guilty on June 23.
On August 2, 2024, Doerman pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated murder and two counts of felonious assault as part of a plea agreement that allowed him to avoid the death penalty. He was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.[4][5]
