HIFK were the reigning Aurora Borealis Cup champions after winning the 2023 Naisten Liiga playoffs. At the conclusion of the 2023–24 regular season, Kiekko-Espoo and HIFK were favorites for the 2024 Aurora Borealis Cup finals.
