The 48th National Film Awards, which was presented by Directorate of Film Festivals, was set up in by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India to acknowledge the achievements of Indian Cinema released in the year of 2000.[1] The ceremony took place on 12th December 2001 and the awards were given by the then-President of India, K. R. Narayanan.[citation needed]
