Abigail Anne Davis Spanberger[1] (/ˈspænbɜːrɡər/ SPAN-bur-gər; née Davis; born August 7, 1979) is an American intelligence officer who has served as the U.S. representative from Virginia's 7th congressional district since 2019. She is a member of the Democratic Party.
A former CIA officer, Spanberger broke the Republican Party's 38-year hold on the district when she was first elected in 2018 by defeating incumbent Dave Brat. She won reelection in 2020 and 2022. In November 2023, she announced she would not run for reelection and would instead run for governor of Virginia in 2025.
