Ashwamedhadatha was a King of Kuru Kingdom who reigned during the Middle Vedic period. He is also grandson of King Janamejaya (through his son Shatanika).[1][2] He succeeded his grandfather. He was succeeded by his son Adhisimakrishna.[3] His grandson King Nicakṣu founded the Vatsa branch of the Kuru clan.[4]: p.117–8 [5]
