As part of their tour to North America and Europe in 1972–73, the New Zealand national rugby union team played the Barbarians at the National Stadium in Cardiff in their last match in Great Britain. It is considered to be one of the best rugby union matches ever played,[1] and featured what has been described as "the greatest try ever", scored by Gareth Edwards in the first few minutes.[2][3] The Barbarians won the game 23–11.[4] It was the first time New Zealand lost to the Barbarians.
