Barguzinsky District (Russian: Баргузи́нский райо́н; Buryat: Баргажанай аймаг, Bargajanai aimag) is an administrative[1] and municipal[6] district (raion), one of the twenty-one in the Republic of Buryatia, Russia. It is located in the northeast of the republic. The area of the district is 18,553 square kilometers (7,163 sq mi).[3] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Barguzin.[1] As of the 2010 Census, the total population of the district was 23,598, with the population of Barguzin accounting for 24.2% of that number.[4]
