Batetsky District (Russian: Батецкий район) is an administrative[1] and municipal[7] district (raion), one of the twenty-one in Novgorod Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northwest of the oblast and borders with Luzhsky District of Leningrad Oblast in the northwest, Novgorodsky District in the east, and with Shimsky District in the south. The area of the district is 1,600 square kilometers (620 sq mi).[4] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a settlement) of Batetsky.[1] District's population: 6,335 (2010 Census);[5] 6,996 (2002 Census);[9] 7,622 (1989 Soviet census).[10] The population of the administrative center accounts for 35.6% of the district's total population.[5]
