The Battle of Kufit was a military engagement fought on 22–23 September 1885, between the Mahdist Sudanese and Ethiopian forces. This fighting resulted in a crushing defeat for the Mahdists and a victory for the Ethiopians led by Ras Alula.[2][3][4]
Ras Alula led a 10,00-strong Ethiopian army that defeated a Mahdist force of about the same size, led by Osman Digna
