Belleville (French: "Belle ville" meaning "Beautiful city/town"[18][19]) is a township in Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 38,222.[9][10] an increase of 2,296 (+6.4%) from the 2010 census count of 35,926,[20][21]
