Educational institutions categorised by century of founding. Note that most medieval universities were originally schools or colleges, and were refounded as universities at a later date -- the date of refounding as a university is usually taken by historians to be the date that the university was established.
- Articles should be categorised by year for 1700 and later, by decade for 1500 to 1699, by century for before 1500, and placed in Category:Educational institutions with year of establishment missing for unknown dates.
