Chesmensky District (Russian: Чесменский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the twenty-seven in Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia.[1] It is located in the southeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,663 square kilometers (1,028 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Chesma.[1] Population: 20,185 (2010 Census);[2] 20,459 (2002 Census);[4] 19,638 (1989 Soviet census).[5] The population of Chesma accounts for 32.3% of the district's total population.[2]
