Chittaranjan is a census town in the Salanpur CD block in the Asansol Sadar subdivision of Paschim Bardhaman district in the state of West Bengal, India. It is popularly known for the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works.

It was recently[when?] featured in BBC's The Great Indian Railway Journey (Lucknow to Kolkata) for its extraordinary management of CLW (Chittaranjan Locomotive Works) and the City Chittaranjan which makes it the first city in entire region to be featured in World Forum.[1]
