Creed (Cornish: Krid)[1] is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Grampound with Creed, in the Cornwall district, in mid Cornwall, England. It is roughly midway between Truro and St Austell, about two miles (3 km) east of Probus.[2] In 1961 the parish had a population of 203.[3] On 1 April 1983 the parish was abolished to form "Grampound with Creed", part also went to St. Mewan.[4]
The name comes from Saint Cride (Sancta Crida), the patron of the church.[5]
The manor of Tybesta was the head manor of the hundred of Powder in the time of Domesday and later one of the 17 Antiqua maneria of the Duchy of Cornwall. It included the whole of the parish of Creed and parts of other parishes.
