Daag (lit.'The Stain') is a 1952 Indian Hindi romantic drama film produced and directed by Amiya Chakravarty. The film stars Dilip Kumar, Nimmi, along with Usha Kiran, Lalita Pawar, Kanhaiyalal, Leela Mishra in pivotal roles. The film's music is composed by Shankar–Jaikishan.[2]

Madhubala was Chakravarty's first choice to play the female lead in the movie, but she left it because of hectic schedule. She was also shooting for Tarana and Sangdil at this time, which starred her alongside Kumar.[3]

Dilip Kumar won the first ever Filmfare Award in the Best Actor category for his performance in this film. The Awards were instituted from 1954. The film fared well at the box office and was declared a hit, despite its heavy theme.[1]
