Dialogue in writing

Dialogue, in literature, is conversation between two or more characters.[1] If there is only one character talking, it is a monologue. Dialogue is usually identified by use of quotation marks and a dialogue tag, such as "she said". According to Burroway et al., It can play an important role in bringing characters to life in literature, by allowing them to voice their internal thoughts.[citation needed]
