Draft:Anthony Merryweather

Anthony Merryweather (1973 - ) was born 1st February 1973. He is an accompanist and composer who plays piano and organ. He began his musical career at the age of six, where he was a music scholar at Christ Church Oxford as a chorister. He went to be a music scholar at Shrewsbury School, [1]where he wrote his first musical, 'Troy'.[2]

Across his career, he has accompanied many notable choirs, including Farnham Youth Choir and Military Wives choir. In 2002, his piece 'In Flanders Fields' was performed live at the Royal Albert Hall by the RAF Band for the Rememberance Day Service.

In 2019, he had a chart topping hit with his song 'Dare to Dream' which was reached number two in iTunes.[3]

Recently, he has worked with Touring Productions of Hansel & Gretel, La Boheme and the Children's Chorus Glyndebourne Festival. He is Director of Music at a prominent independent School in Surrey.[4]

In 2022, his musical 'The Truth Stops Here' premiered at Esher Theatre, which follows the tragedy of the Bethnal Green Tube disaster, in which 173 people lost their lives.[5]

He currently accompanies Bookham Choral[6] and Kingswood Wisdom of God Church, and the founder of Graduati Singers, a choir set up in London for talented students and graduates, conducted by Musical Director Benedict Preece.[7]
