Can Sakir Binan (born 7 April 1956) is a Turkish architect, conservation and restoration expert practicing in Istanbul.^[1] He graduated from Galatasaray High School in 1976 and then from the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts (IDMMA) Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture, in 1981. With his thesis titled "A Study on the Conservation Criteria of 13th Century Anatolian Caravanserais," he earned his PhD at Istanbul Technical University in 1991, became an Associate Professor in 1996, and a Professor at Yıldız Technical University in 2010.^[2]

His areas of expertise include the History of Architectural Conservation, Conservation and Restoration Technology, World Heritage, Medieval Anatolian and both classical and late period Ottoman Architecture. In addition to his books, articles, and research on Architectural Conservation and Restoration, he is a member of the ICOMOS Turkey National Committee and served as the Chair of the Istanbul 3rd Cultural and Natural Heritage Conservation Board from 2001 to 2010.
