The coat of arms of Pula depicts a yellow Latin cross on top of a green background. It also has a ceremonial version consisting of the same design on a special Renaissance escutcheon with a lily shape on the top. The banner of arms was adopted as the flag of the city, although it is designed like a Nordic cross instead of a Latin cross.[1] It is a variation of the historical coat of arms used since the 19th century, but was only granted on November 12 1993 during the Croatian War of Independence. The simplicity and usage of a cross is very common for a coat of arms of a city in Istria, however, the tinctures chosen, Vert and Or, make it unique.[2]
