The Committee for the Preparation of Korean Independence (CPKI) was an organization created during the years following the liberation of Korea for the transfer of government jurisdiction from the Japanese Empire. Lead figures of the committee included Lyuh Woon-hyung and Ahn Chai-hong, and Cho Man-sik. The committee was operational from August 15, 1945 to September 7, when it was reorganized into the People's Republic of Korea.
